Primary Tap

Age: 6 years +

Following the IDTA Syllabus, students are taught set exercises and dances further developing their tap technique.

Set in a fun, energetic class style, the children are also given the opportunity to practice their skills in short routines set to engaging tracks of music and the use of props makes it a fun way to learn new technique and enhance their learning of rhythm and beat and express themselves by using their feet.

We offer all children the opportunity to partake in the IDTA graded, rosette and medals examinations for this grade and to be part of our presentation evenings and bi-annual show.

Please note: The above ages are used as a guideline only.

WHAT TO WEAR?

If the class follows on or after a ballet class than the children can wear their regulation and school ballet uniform, but with the addition of tap shoes with elastic instead of laces.

If the child just does tap than the uniform is as follows:
Black sleeveless lycra leotard and blue circular skirt, black ankle socks and tap shoes with elastic instead of laces.

Our in house dance shop can provide all of the above, please ask the receptionist, however if you wish to source your own please ensure that you get the correct colour, style and brand as there are many other brands available.

Tap shoes are required for this class.
